Cuttack: More skeletons are tumbling out of the closet of the Dhalasamant brothers every day. They had invested around Rs 200 crore in a Jharsuguda-based sponge iron company, revealed sources at the Commissionerate Police on Friday.
During the interrogation, the D-brothers have also revealed that some of their aides are partners in the company, the sources added. The Commissionerate Police has seized some documents pertaining to the stake of the D-brothers in the sponge iron company.
Besides, the D-brothers have invested in a Mumbai-based hotel, the sources said. The duo regularly visited Vizag, Delhi, Guwahati, Kolkata, Goa and Mumbai. Commissionerate Police is probing further to find out the purpose behind the D-brothers' frequent visit to these six cities, they added.
During the interrogation, it came to light that the D-brothers were procuring arms illegally from Munger in BiharwWith the help of a former MLA since 2000.
The sources said the brothers had managed to secure two fake passports.
The D-brothers had rented a house in Pokhariput in Bhubaneswar in the name of Bhola Bhagat, who is a business partner of the duo. Notably, the D-brothers were arrested from the Pokhariput house in the wee hours of January 29.
Twin City Police Commissioner Yogesh Bahadur Khurania said, “More things will come out of the case. We have been successful in curbing mafia rule in Cuttack city. Besides, we will fully utilise the power given to us to arrest anti-social activities.”
The D-brothers were involved in tender fixing for Ramky Group, which has been hired by the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) for waste disposal work, the sources added.
