Bhubaneswar: While most parts of Odisha are still shivering under an intense cold wave with Phulbani recording the lowest temperature of 4 degree Celsius on Monday, the local Met office has predicted that the severe cold wave conditions will continue for the next 24 hours.

Apart from Phulbani, temperature plummeted to below 10 degrees in Angul (7.6), Baripada (7), Jharsuguda (7.4), Keonjhar (7.8), Sambalpur (8.5), Sundergarh (6), Hirakud (7), Bhawanipatna (7.2), Balangir (8.5) Koraput (9) and Titlagarh (7) and Daringbadi (6).

In the coastal districts, mercury fell sharply in Balasore (10.2), Chandbali (12.4), Cuttack (12), Paradip (13.5), Bhubaneswar (12.9), Gopalpur (15) and Puri (13.6).

People in the capital city also felt intense cold due to northerly wind throughout the day.

Director, Regional Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, Dr Sarat Chandra Sahu said though the severe cold wave conditions will continue in the state, particularly in the interior region, for the next 24 hours, there will be no significant change in the weather till January 30.
