Bhubaneswar: An FIR was lodged at Hirakud police station against senior BJP leader and former minister Jay Narayan Mishra on Wednesday for misbehaving with police.
The case was registered on a complaint lodged by Hirakud PS IIC Tophan Bag.
Sources said an altercation ensued between Mishra and Bag when police tried to stop Mishra's vehicle, which was following Union minister Uma Bharati's vehicle, from going inside Hirakud dam this morning. But Mishra insisted on going in and allegdly scuffled with the policemen on duty.
Police said no vehicle would be allowed in until a security check is done. Enraged over the matter, Mishra reportedly came out of his vehicle and started scolding the police officer. Though others wanted to pacify the BJP leader, Mishra did not relent. The tussle between the two continued for sometime before Sambalpur SP Akhileswar Singh intervened in the matter and sorted out the issue.
"Does Burla police not know me? Am I a terrorist? They had no business stopping me," an angry Mishra told OTV over phone after the incident.
