Subarnapur: Marriage festivities turned into a tragedy on Tuesday when four persons from the groom's side were killed and 30 others injured in a road accident at Sarasmala under Dunguripali block in the district.
The deceased have been identified as Baladeb Kumbhar, Pabitra Kumbhar,Jalandhar Rajhansa and Ranjita Kumbhar.
The ghastly accident took place when the mini-lorry carrying at least 33 members of a wedding party were returning to Satlama village in Baragarh. The vehicle lost control, fell into a pit and overturned killing two on the spot. Two others succumbed to injuries on the way to hospital.
All the injured have been admitted to Rampur health centre in Bargarh district. Eight critically injured have been shifted to VSS medical college and hospital in Burla.
Meanwhile, a police team has reached the spot and seized the vehicle. The bodies of the deceased have been sent for post-mortem, they said.
