248 MBBS, BDS seats vacant after 2nd round counselling

Bhubaneswar: Vacant MBBS and BDS seats have led the Directorate of Medical Education and Training (DMET) to start the process for a third round of counselling.

DMET’s joint director Dr Umakant Satapathy informed mediapersons 248 seats for MBBS and BDS courses in both government and private medical colleges are vacant after second round of counselling.

While in SCB Medial College and Hospital, Cuttack, 26 MBBS and 25 BDS seats, MKCG Berhampur and VSS Medical College, Burla have 13 and 25 MBBS seats have fallen vacant.

The process for the third round of counselling has begun from today as students were asked to lock their choices on September 8 and 9. Allotment of colleges will be done on September 10 and students will be asked to join respective colleges on September 17, added Satapathy.

Meanwhile, condition of technical education in the state is also not sound. Around 60% of applicants for special OJEE remained absent yesterday, when test for engineering, MBA and MCA courses were held.
