Bhanjanagar: Normal life in Bhanjanagr of Ganjam district was affected to the bandh called by the contractual employees of Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC) today. The bandh call was given by the employees opposing the decision to relocate the OSRTC unit and demanding release of pending salary of seven months.
According to reports, the OSRTC contractual staff have been protesting for 10 days and were forced to observe bandh as their demands were not fulfilled. As a part of their bandh, the agitators blocked the Bhanjanagar main road disrupting traffic movement and throwing normal life out of gear.
“We have called for Bhanjanagar bandh demanding our pending salary. We have also sent our demands to Chief Minister, Transport Minister, Rural Development Minister, OSRTC CMD, District Collector and sub-Collector over e-mail.
“Demanding withdrawal of the relocation order, residents of Dhumasur have observed the bandh,” Sahoo added.
Schools, markets, business establishments, government and non-government offices remained closed during the shutdown.
