Bhubaneswar: In view of growing public resentment against industries, Orissa government on Friday decided to formulate a corporate social responsibility (CSR) policy.

A direction in this regard was issued by Chief secretary B K Patnaik while presiding over the meeting of the State Level Single Window Clearance Committee.

"The chief secretary has asked us to prepare a draft of the CSR policy after studying different aspects," Industries Secretary T Ramachandru told reporters.

Though the central government had already framed guidelines for CSR, many states in the country did not have a specific policy on the matter. Sometimes, the industries do not comply to the CSR due to lack of a proper policy in this regard, the state government felt.

In absence of a specific policy in this regard, the CSR was being fixed at the Resettlement and Peripheral Development Advisory Committee.
