Agartala: Orissa notched up an easy victory over Assam in the second match of Vijaya Hazare Trophy tournament at Maharaja Bir Bikram stadium on Saturday.

Though Orissa lost to Bengal in their first match, they managed to win easily on Saturday.

Orissa`s all-rounder Paresh Patel (82) and Biplab Samantray (97) put much pressure on Assam.

Pritam Das of Assam bagged two wickets for 52 runs from his 10 overs while Abu Nechim Ahmed got only one by giving away 63 runs from nine overs.

Chasing 257 runs, Assam`s start was not good when its opener Parvez Aziz went back to pavilion without scoring.

However, Pallab Kumar Das (58), Kunal Saikia (27) and Tajinder Singh (43) tried to reach the target but failed.
