Bhubaneswar: While hearing the PIL on repair and conservation of the Sun Temple at Konark, the Orissa High Court on Tuesday expressed disappointment over the 'delay' in the repair work of the 13th century monument.
The renovation work of the temple is reportedly not going on as per the direction of the HC appointed amicus curiae, who had recommended assessment of the quality of stone of the core wall, increase in the frequency of chemical cleaning and to make the monument water tight by properly sealing the cracks.
The HC has also asked for an up-to-date status report on the progress of the repair work while directing the Director General and the Joint Director (Conservation) of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to remain present during the next hearing on December 23.
"The Court expressed disappointment and directed the DG ASI and the Joint Director ASI (Conservation) to be present on Monday (December 23). Following that, the HC will take a decision on the matter," said senior lawyer, Ashok Mohapatra.
