Cuttack: Two important cases pertaining to the repair works of Jagmohan in Puri Srimandir and Konark Sun Temple came up for hearing before the Orissa High Court today.
As per the earlier order of the High Court, design of a ramp for the differently-abled visitors at Srimandir has been made and permission to build the same has been sought from the Director General of ASI in Delhi.
The Amicus Curiae appointed by the High Court has also mentioned about design of the ramp in its report. Speaking to media, Ashok Mohapatra, lawyer of the petitioner said, “ASI has requested their DG in Delhi to allocate funds for the ramp. Once it is approved, the construction will be completed within a month.”
Similarly, the Amicus Curiae submitted a detailed report suggesting ways to effectively drain rainwater from the premises of the Konark Sun Temple and execute repair works.
ASI informed the court that a joint committee of ASI and CBRI (Central Building Research Institute) will study the report and undertake necessary steps. The next hearing on these two cases has been scheduled for December 16, 2019.
