Bhadrak: Tihidi Block Development Officer (BDO) Dibyajyoti Smrutiranjan Deo has landed in trouble for repeatedly defying ruling of Orissa High Court.
According to sources, the BDO had allegedly transferred funds from one project to use them on some other projects. This apart, he had also reportedly transferred various projects under 'Ama Gaon Ama Vikash' initiative in Tihidi.
Alleging misuse of funds, different social forums had met the BDO and urged him to refrain from shifting the projects and funds but he allegedly did not pay them any heed.
Later, based on a petition filed by local residents, the State apex court issued a notice to Deo asking him not to sanction any bill of a particular project and directed him appear before it in person. However, despite the High Court's ruling, the BDO approved the bill.
After learning that Deo had flouted its earlier order, the court again issued a notice on December 2 asking him to appear before it in person on December 10. But this time too, the BDO defied the court order and tendered an unconditional apology on December 11.
Taking strong cognizance of the matter, the HC directed Deo to work as a supervisor of a public park of his choice in the district apart from his duty for self-realisation till December 23, 2019.
"We are not accepting the unconditional apology tendered by the opposite party (Dibyajyoti Smrutiranjan Deo) since it has become a practice of every government officer flouting the order of this court to tender unconditional apology in a routine manner," a notice by the HC to the BDO noted.
The BDO, meanwhile has said that he would follow the order of the court.
