Bhubaneswar: Countering the continuous allegations of the ruling BJD against the Centre for its negligence to the state, opposition Congress has mounted scathing attack on the state government for its inefficiency to spend the central assistance.

A day after party MLA Naba Kishore Das released a fact sheet on the central assistance provided to the state, Congress moved an impeachment motion in the State Assembly against the Revenue Minister for misleading the house over central package for farmer compensation.

The party is now mulling to reach to the people directly and present the facts before them.

“No false allegations against the Centre will be tolerated now. We have openly proved that the current government is lying them” said Opposition leader Bhupinder Singh.

Meanwhile, the BJP has formed a special committee to prepare chargesheets to step up its attack on the ruling BJD government in the state over corruption and other burning issues.

The "chargesheet" commitee, to have senior BJP leader Bijay Mohapatra as its Chairman, would collect and compile charges against the Naveen Patnaik government, according to state party president Jual Oram.

Alleging rampant corruption during the BJD rule as reflected in a series of irregularities including mining and coal scams and dal scandal, he said framing of chargesheets would help in mounting a systematic and vigorous onslaught against the "inefficient" government.

Announcement of the committee assumed significance as it coincided with the visit of senior BJP leader and former party president M Venkaiah Naidu, who addressed a special meeting of the party on Saturday here.

"The aim is to expose the corrupt and inefficient government and make people aware of its failures various scams and financial irregularities taking place in the state during the BJD rule," another senior party leader said.

The campaign against the Naveen regime would be undertaken simultaneously along with the three-month long country-wide campaign from April 6 to June 30 highlight alleged failures of the UPA government in checking corruption, inflation, and extremism, he said.
