Bargarh: A youth from Odisha will be seen in a lead role in an international movie 'Semkhor'- based on the life of the indigenous Dimasa tribe of Assam, a north-eastern state of India.
34-year-old Jagannath Seth of Mohanapali village under Padampur block of Bargarh district will portray the character of a Dimasa tribal man who has made the forests of Semkhor hills of Assam his home.
Jagannath will play opposite famous Assamese actress, Aimee Baruah. The production team of the movie is planning to release the movie not only in Dimasa but in ten other languages as well.
"Since my childhood I was attracted towards films and acting. Semkhor's pre-production started around six months back. I stayed in Assam for three months and it took some 40-odd days to learn Dimasa language, and two teachers were engaged for that," said Jagannath.
"We have worked very hard for the film, added the Odia actor.
Jagannath graduated from the prestigious National School of Drama (NSD) in 2010, but has been acting in theatres for more than 16 years now. He started acting when he was in Grade-6 and gradually his interest developed over the years as he acted in plays in school and college.
In the next phase of his life, he became a member of The Loo - a cultural organization devoted to art and theatre in Western Odisha and acted in over a dozen of Sambalpuri movies.
Parbati Seth, Jagannath's mother said, "We are happy and proud of him. His hard work has made him successful."
A couple of days ago, Odisha MP Prasanna Acharya also lauded Jagannath for bagging the lead role in Semkhor.
