Balasore: Despite passage of the Triple Talaq bill in the Parliament, several such cases continue to surface from different parts of Odisha. In one such case, a man allegedly divorced his wife by pronouncing talaq thrice in Pathan Mohalla area of Soro in Balasore district.
The victim has alleged that since her marriage three years back, she has been subjected to torture by her in-laws. Yesterday, when she asked for some money from her husband on Eid, the latter allegedly abused her and divorced her by pronouncing talaq thrice.
However, no response could be obtained either from the man or from his family members.
"She was tortured, harassed and forced to undergo abortion. Her husband has given her triple talaq which is now illegal and draws severe punishment. We will ensure that she gets justice," said victim's lawyer, Kanhu Charan Behera.
A few days back, another woman in Kendrapara filed a police complaint against her husband for allegedly divorcing her by uttering talaq thrice over phone.
