Berhampur: For 75-year-old Kumari Naik of Kadapada village in Buguda block, it seems that the biggest disadvantage that had been haunting her entire life so far has now become a blessing in disguise.
Kumari who suffers from a rare disorder called polydactylism, has 19 toes in her feet and an extra finger on both hands, a physical characteristic that has forced her to live a wretched life all alone. What’s more worse is the elderly woman is also born-dumb.
But her body abnormality has now brought her fame and an opportunity to enter the Guinness World Records as the person having the most digits in the world.
Social media is now abuzz with reports claiming that Kumari is said to be the new holder of the Guinness world record for having the most fingers and toes. The previous record-holder was Devendra Suthar of Gujarat who has 28 digits (14 fingers and as many toes).
Sources said, septuagenarian Kumari who is presently lodged at an old-age home after reports of her hardship came to limelight, barely used to leave her house earlier fearing humiliation because of her deformity coupled with her inability to speak and hear and unusual facial appearance which made children call her a witch.
