Rourkela: A day after President Ram Nath Kovind inaugurated the Ispat Super Specialty Hospital of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) on Sunday, a mob of workers belonging to the left affiliated CITU and CPI (M) and some locals ransacked the hospital triggering palpable tension in the hospital premises, on Monday.
Alleging lack of adequate doctors and staff nurses in the newly--inaugurated hospital, dozens of CITU and CPI (M) activists along with local residents barged into the hospital at around 10.30 am and vandalised furniture and machines including chairs, tables and computers at the hospital.
Meanwhile, senior officials of RSP and the hospital rushed to the spot after receiving information and tried to pacify the protestors. However, police are yet to reach the spot.

The left parties have been demanding the RSP authorities to handover the management of the newly constructed super specialty hospital to AIIMS so that the hospital can genuinely cater to the needs of the people in the locality.
Earlier on March 19, members of ruling BJD and left parties joined hands and formed a human chain along 18-kilometre Ring Road while Congress activists staged a demonstration near Ispat Market protesting the inauguration of the super specialty hospital.
The newly inaugurated 200-bed hospital has facilities for neurology, neuro surgery, cardiology, cardiothoracic and vascular surgery, and nephrology.
The hospital would not only cater to the super specialty medical needs of Odisha but the adjoining areas of Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh too, the President had said while inaugurating the state of the art infrastructure on Sunday.
