Bhubaneswar: Following the rise in COVID-19 cases, Odisha government has decided to rope in post-PG doctors in the ongoing fight against Coronavirus in the State.
In a letter to dean and principals of SCB, MKCG, VIMSAR medical colleges, additional chief secretary (Health) Pradipta Mohapatra has directed to utilise the services of post-PG doctors in different institutions to combat COVID-19.
At present, 447 post-PG doctors are posted at various medical colleges and periphery as part of bond conditions for a period of two years. As per norms, the post-PG doctors are deployed on rotation basis for a period of one year.
As per the latest decision of the Odisha government, the post-PG doctors on bond service shall be posted at COVID facilities. They shall perform duty for 14 days in the dedicated COVID health centres, COVID hospitals or COVID Care Centres as per the requirement.
After completion of 14-day duty, the post-PG doctors will undergo a 14-day quarantine as per the existing protocol. Later, they will be relieved to work in the medical colleges and periphery and another batch of post-PG doctors will take charge in their place in the dedicated COVID facilities.
"Each post-PG doctor shall be engaged in COVID duty for one month in dedicated COVID health centres, COVID hospitals, COVID Care Centres on rotation basis," an official notification read.
