Bhadrak: A minor boy studying in Class VIII has reportedly gone missing from his home since the last five days from Jagannathpur area under Bhadrak Town Police limits here.
The boy, son of Rabindra Sahoo of ward no-10 from Jagannathpur area in the town, has remained untraceable after he went missing on February 14. Rabindra runs a tiffin stall in the town.
"On that day (February 14), my son left home at around 9.30 am apparently to visit his father's tiffin stall. Later, when we failed to locate him for a couple of hours, we started searching for him only to find his bicycle parked near the house. I want my son back," said Arti, the minor boy's mother.
A missing complaint was immediately lodged at the Bhadrak Town Police Station by his parents, said reports.
However, when even after three days the police could not make any headway on the whereabouts of the boy, Jitendra's parents and some fellow locals sat on dharna outside the SP's office alleging police inaction over their complaint.
The agitation was later called off after the SP assured that a search operation was underway to trace the missing boy.
"After the assurances made by the SP, some police officials visited our house yesterday (Wednesday) for inquiry and said they will check the CCTV cameras installed in the locality to get a lead," said Rabindra, father of the boy, adding, "I appeal the police department to trace my son at the earliest."
Meanwhile, the Additional Superintendent of Police (SP) Pratap Panda said that efforts are on to trace the missing boy. "The boy had earlier eloped from his house. He was later traced by the police and handed over to his family. It is being suspected that this time too, the same thing has happened. A search operation has been initiated and we hope to find his whereabouts soon," informed Panda.
