Bhubaneswar: People in Odisha continue to shiver under intense cold with the mercury further dipping to below 15 degree Celcius at as many places in the State during the last 24 hours, informed the IMD on Tuesday.

The night temperature at Sonepur dropped to 8.8 degree Celcius, making it the coldest place in the State. Daringbadi, known as the Kashmir of Odisha, was coldest at 9 degree Celcius followed by Phulbani at 9.8 degree Celsius.

As per the Regional Meteorological Centre, the minimum temperature plummeted to 10 degrees in Angul, 12 degrees each in Baripada and Bhawanipatna, 12.4 degrees each in Koraput and Keonjhar, 13.2 degrees in Jharsuguda, 14 degrees each in Sundargarh, Talcher, Boudh and Bolangir, 14.5 degrees in Cuttack and 14.8 degrees in Chandbali.

The Capital City of Bhubaneswar witnessed lowest temperature at 15.4 degree.

On Sunday, the mercury level had dipped below 15 degree Celsius in 11 places across the State. As the coldest place in the State, the night temperature in Sonepur had dropped to 9 degrees. Cold wave conditions had also prevailed in other interior districts of the State.

According to the Meteorological Centre sources, while Angul had recorded 10.2 degree Celsius, the minimum temperature in Daringbadi stood at 11.3 degree Celsius.

The minimum temperature had plummeted to 11.3 degrees in Phulbani, 12 degrees in Keonjhar, 12.4 degrees in Baripada, 12.8 degrees in Bhawanipatna, 13 degrees in Koraput, 13.2 degree Celsius in Jharsuguda, 14 degrees in Bolangir, 14.8 degrees in Cuttack and 15 degree Celsius each in Talcher and Sundargarh.

Bhubaneswar had recorded a minimum of 16 degree Celsius.
