Bhadrak: The reported discovery of a Shivling and a copper snake idol from the backyard of a farmer’s house at a village in Bhadrak district on the Mahashivaratri day created a sensation in the locality as people thronged to witness the spectacle and offer prayers.

As per reports, the incident occurred at Deepabadi village of Kubera panchayat under Tihidi block.

The son of Harihar Jena, a resident of the village, accidentally discovered the shivling and a copper snake idol in the backyard of their residence on Thursday morning when he was digging a pit to plant pumpkin seeds. His shovel hit a rock while he was digging.

He removed the earth carefully and then emerged the Shivling and the copper snake idol which were buried deep inside, reports said.

When news of the mysterious discovery spread, villagers and people from the nearby areas rushed to witness the miracle. The crowd surged quickly as the discovery coincided with Mahashivratri, the holiest festival of Lord Shiva.

Though the authenticity of the miraculous discovery has not been ascertained, the faithful nevertheless went on to start the rituals associated with the deity and the divine serpentine.
