Odisha School Teacher Found Hanging In DEO’s Quarters

Koraput: Mystery shrouds the death of a teacher whose body was found hanging in the official quarters of district education officer (DEO) in Koraput district on Sunday. The deceased teacher has been identified as Chittaranjan Panda, who hails from Dasmantpur block area in the district

Police retrieved the body of deceased Chittaranjan by breaking open the door of the quarters yesterday. However, the concerned DEO was not present in the quarters.

Police suspect that the teacher has committed suicide as a handwritten note has been recovered from the spot.

However, the family members of the deceased alleged that Chittaranjan has been murdered. They informed that Chittaranjan was under mental pressure after he misplaced two important files. Some officials were putting pressure on him.

Koraput SDPO Balabhadra Deep said, “The teacher has committed suicide. We have registered a case of unnatural death at Town police station and launched a probe. The post-mortem has been conducted and we are waiting for the report.”

Asked about the note in which the teacher reportedly mentioned the names of a few persons responsible for his death, the SDPO said, “We will analyse the note and take action as per law.”
