Odisha Relaxes Liquor Selling Hours On New Year Eve 'In Public Interest'

Bhubaneswar: At a time when anti-liquor protests are seen across the State, Odisha government has relaxed the selling hours for liquor on New Year eve.

"Government, after careful consideration is pleased to relax the selling hour for IMFL ON shops and Bars operating in Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation, Cuttack Municipal Corporation and Puri Municipality areas on December 31, 2019 (New Year Eve)," read a notification from the Odisha Excise Department.

As per the order, the shops and bars in the three cities will remain open up to 1 AM of January 1, 2020 in 'public interest'.
