Bhubaneswar: Maintaining the declining trend, daily Covid-19 cases in Odisha once again dropped below the 1000-mark with the detection of 986 new infections in the last 24 hours. The previous time the State had recorded a surge below 1000 positives was on Tuesday when only 987 were found positive. The total Covid-19 cases in the State have now gone up to 305986.
Of the fresh cases reported from all the 30 districts, 572 are from quarantine and the rest 414 were linked to local transmission. With 112 fresh cases of infection in the last 24 hours, Khordha is the only district in the State to have registered more than 100 cases, as per State Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Department.
On the other hand, the number of fatalities continued to rise despite a drop in fresh positive cases. At least 14 patients undergoing treatment at various hospitals across the State died in the past 24 hours pushing the death toll to 1483.
While three deaths were reported from Khordha district, two deaths each were recorded in Sundargarh and Nuapada districts. Bargarh, Balasore, Cuttack, Kalahandi, Kendrapara, Mayurbhanj and Sambalpur districts saw one death each, as per the data of State Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) Department.
H&FW department has shared the details of the 14 Covid-19 patients who succumbed while undergoing treatment at various hospitals:
- A 48-year-old male of Bargarh district.
- A 68-year-old male of Balasore district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus.
- A 62-year-old male of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus & Hypertension & Hypothyroidism.
- An 86-year-old male of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus & Hypertension.
- A 79-year-old male of Cuttack district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus & Hypertension, CKD & old SDH.
- A 67-year-old male of Kalahandi district.
- A 61-year-old male of Kendrapara district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus & Hypertension.
- A 56-year-old male of Khordha district.
- A 65-year-old male of Mayurbhanj district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus & UTI.
- A 95-year-old male of Nuapada district who was also suffering from Liver failure.
- A 65-year-old male of Nuapada district.
- A 58-year-old male of Sambalpur district.
- An 83-year-old male of Sundargarh district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus & Hypertension.
- A 62-year-old male of Sundargarh district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus, CKD & Anaemia.
After today's surge, the active cases in Odisha went up to 11973 while 292477 positive patients have so far recovered from the disease. As many as 45819 samples were tested in the last 24 hours taking the cumulative tests to 5122938 in Odisha.
Morning data released by the Union Health Ministry reveals that 47905 more persons tested positive for coronavirus in a span of 24 hours in India pushing the country’s infection tally to 8683916. The death toll rose to 128121 after 550 new fatalities were reported, according to the Union Health Ministry’s data.
