Bhubaneswar: Amid a shortage of vaccines in Odisha, the State government on Monday put persons eligible for 2nd dose of Covishield vaccine on a priority list.
A notification in this regard stated that, “A total of 8,90,918 persons are already due for the second dose of Covishield till April 29, 2021. But due to limited supply of Covishield vaccine by the Government of India, MoHFW, we could not vaccinate the due beneficiaries in time.”
In order to streamline the 2nd dose vaccination drive, the department has issued instructions for the CVCs.
“While scheduling a session at a CVC, first those beneficiaries who are due for 2nd dose are to be covered. The second dose of Covishield is to be preferably administered between 6 to 8 weeks,” the department has stated.
“List of the beneficiaries due for the 2nd dose at each centre can be accessed from the COWIN Portal. Facility in-Charge / MO shall mobilize these beneficiaries due for 2nd dose vaccination with the support of ASHA / AWWs Volunteers etc and vaccinate them after adding them to the session through Spot allotment.”
The order further read, “If vaccine remains available after catering to the 2nd dose beneficiaries, it should be used for first dose of left out Front line workers and Health care workers.”
Other categories can be covered only after vaccinating all the beneficiaries due for 2nd dose, HCWs and FLWs, the order added.
