Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Police today asked Chitra Athwani, a Mumbai-based air hostess, to depose before it within 14 days in connection with the arrest of Deccan Chronicle Group vice-chairman P K Iyer.

The police issued summons to her after finding that Iyer was staying in a star hotel here booked in her name. Iyer was wanted by CBI in an alleged bank loan fraud case, police said.

The summons has been sent to Athwani at her Darbhanga address in Bihar, police sources said adding Iyer was arrested from a star hotel in Nayapally area on June 6.

"We have already recorded statements of hotel authorities who allowed Iyer to stay in the name of Chitra. Therefore, it is essential from investigation point of view to also record the statement of Chitra," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCO), Satyabrat Bhoi.

Preliminary investigation by police showed that Iyer had first arrived at the hotel with Chitra at about 2 AM on February 14. They had stayed together for 10 days before Chitra left the hotel. Iyer, however, booked a room in the same hotel in her name and continued to stay till he was arrested on June 6.
