Odisha: Police SI Forges Magistrate's Signature To Release Murder Accused, Arrested

Berhampur: The Buguda Police has arrested a Sub-Inspector (SI) for allegedly forging a magistrate's signature on orders granting bail to a murder accused in Ganjam district.

The accused SI identified as Surya Narayan Behera was arrested on Friday after the magistrate at the Buguda Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Court approached the local police with a complaint against him.

As per the complainant, Behera had allegedly forged the signature of the magistrate to release a murder accused whose case was underway at the Buguda JMFC Court. The murder accused was even released on bail from jail.

However, when the magistrate realised that fake orders were released on his signature while he was not present in the court, he lodged an FIR with the Buguda Police.

Based on the complaint, Buguda Police initiated an investigation and arrested Behera yesterday. He was later forwarded to the court during the day and sent to jail.
