Bhubaneswar: In a bid to make the students ready for various competitive examinations, Odisha Higher Education Department has decided to introduce a new pattern of questions in plus III examinations.
As per reports, Plus-III students will have to appear the examination in a new format i.e multi-question pattern. The students will have to answer questions carrying 1, 2, 3 and 5 marks.
Students, who have taken admissions in Plus-III first year, will appear the examination in the new format which has been introduced as part of reforms in Higher Education.
“The students from Odisha were facing problems in pursuing higher education outside or applying for jobs. Now the students will have to study seriously as their understanding will be put to test,” said Ashok Das, Vice Chairman of State Higher Education Council.
Official sources said that the students from Odisha are lagging behind and also facing problems while appearing various examinations. Papers on communicative english, aptitude and logical reasoning have been made mandatory for the students. The subjects will carry 100 marks each and this will help the students to prepare for various competitive examinations from the college level itself, said Trilochan Mishra, comptroller of examinations, Ravenshaw University.
Students have also welcomed such reforms by Odisha government.
“Earlier, the students had to write more as they had to appear the examination which was mainly conducted in long-type pattern. Though now we have to study more, it will be easier for us to score marks,” said Ananya Mohapatra, a student.
Echoing similar views, Anayanya Dasgupta, another student said, “As the pattern will now be more objective, we will have to cover the entire syllabus. However, scoring marks will be easier for us.”
