Bhubaneswar: A group of students once again staged demonstration at Lower PMG square in Bhubaneswar on Monday demanding cancellation of Plus II examination conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE).
It is for the second time that the students have raised the demand of cancellation of Plus II exam in the State.
The students alleged that the State government is yet to make any announcement regarding the dates for the conduct of the exam due to which there is confusion in their minds and at the same time it will create problems in pursuing higher education.
The students have threatened to intensify their agitation if no step is taken to cancel the Plus II exam. The Naba Nirman Yuva Chatra Sangathan has also extended support to the demands of the students.
The group has threatened to gherao Naveen Niwas, the official residence of Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, if no decision is taken within 10 days.
Following the demonstration, police held discussion with the agitating students. However, as they were reluctant, police took immediate steps to disperse them. Two members of the group were also taken into preventive custody.
On April 21, the Odisha government had announced to cancel the matriculation examination after scores of students marched to Naveen Niwas with their demand to cancel the exam conducted by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE).
The results of the Class 10 will be published as per the criterion prepared by the respective boards. In case of any disagreement with the results, students will be given chance for examination only after any improvement in the Covid pandemic situation, School and Mass Education Minister, Samir Ranjan Dash had told earlier.
