Bhubaneswar: An 8-ft-long python which was rescued yesterday in Banki of Cuttack district underwent a rare surgery on its eye today at the College of Veterinary Science of Odisha University of Agriculture & Technology (OUAT).  Sources said the snake was unable to move freely due to a matured scale spread over its eyes. Taking advantage of its illness, some miscreants had reportedly pasted adhesive tapes on its eyes resulting in injuries.

"The reptile was rescued by the Forest officials, who had arrested one person for allegedly smuggling the snake. We found an adhesive tape pasted on one of the eyes of the snake.  A team of experts has conducted surgery on the reptile and it is doing fine," Suvendu Mallik, Snake Helpline secretary said.
