Bhubaneswar: In a bid to avoid delay in the release of the bodies, the Health department has issued an order on Tuesday asking all the hospitals in the State not to conduct COVID-19 test after the death of the patients.
"COVID-19 test after death is discouraged to avoid undue delay in the release of body and prevent harassment to the bereaved family," the order read.
The department has also asked all the hospitals- both government and private, who are treating the novel coronavirus patients, to submit the death report of the positive persons along with the copy of the bed head tickets, investigation reports and COVID test status to the Director of Health Services within 48 hours of death for the State-level death audit.
Moreover, all hospitals have also been directed to record all the pre-existing diseases with symptoms and investigation reports of the patients at the time of admission. The hospitals have to submit the records to the State Level Committee along with the name and contact number of the physician treating the patient.
Till September 22, Odisha has reported 1,88,311 COVID-19 cases, while 721 died due to the virus.
