Cuttack: Noted veteran Odia film music director Jalal Adeni passed away following a massive cardiac arrest at his residence in Buxi Bazar on Monday morning. He was 85.
According to family sources, Adeni was not keeping well since long on account of illness.
Born on June 23, 1936 at Bhanjanagar area in Ganjam district, Adeni rose to fame in Odia cinema with the movie ‘Anutap’ as music director. The song ‘Nida Bhara Rati Madhu Bhara Janha’, one of his compositions in the film was an all-time hit. Among his other compositions, 'Nupura Kanhiki Mun Bandhili' and 'Mun Tumaku Bhala Pae Luchi Luchika' were also big hits and they still pull heartstrings of music lovers across the State.
He also tried his hands in the industry as a director and producer and presented a hit movie--Hira Moti Manika-- in 1981. He is also remembered for his works in film like 'Pujarini' and 'Basanti Apa'.
Adeni had an inclination towards singing and acting from his childhood days. Later the engineer-turned-music director resigned from his Railway job and dedicated his life to make his passion into a profession.
Adeni had launched lyricist Mohammad Nizam and singer Tansen Singh in Odia film industry. He also gave a break to noted play writer Bijay Mishra.
People from the film fraternity, friends and music lovers across the State thronged his residence to pay their last respect to the legendary music director. Many others took to social media to pay their condolences to the departed soul.
