Malkangiri: Superstition prevailed over rational thinking leading to the tragic loss of man's life in the village of Orelguda under Poteru Police Outpost limits in Malkangiri District. In the shocking incident, a man suspected of practicing black magic was allegedly beaten to death in the village.
As per sources, one Deba Banjami of Orelguda village died yesterday due to a terminal illness. However, the bereaved family members believed that sorcery and black magic led to Deba's death and accused one Jaga Kabasi to be behind the death.
The family members of the deceased allegedly dragged Jaga out of his home and assaulted him mercilessly with sticks killing him on the spot.
There are reports of involvement of some other villagers in this gruesome incident.
An FIR has been lodged at Kalimela Police Station and an investigation is reportedly underway.
