New Delhi: After experiencing severe heat-wave condition in the last couple of days, Odisha is likely to heave a sigh of relief from the scorching heat from tomorrow.
In an exclusive interview to OTV, Mrutyunjay Mohapatra, Director General (DG) of India Meteorological Department (IMD) thunderstorm and rainfall activities might help decrease the mercury level in Odisha from tomorrow.
He said temperature started soaring during last week of March in several north Indian States like Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and eastern Indian States like West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Tamil Nadu.
“We had predicted in February that Odisha would witness temperature above than the normal during March-April and May,” the weather expert pointed out.
States like Odisha, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh will see high temperature than the normal during April, May, June. As far as Odisha is concerned, the State will experience a rise in mercury by 0.35% during the period, he predicted.
"Every year, we usually experience a heat wave condition for five to seven days during the summer season, but this year the frequency of the heat wave would become more due to the temperature above normal this year,” the IMD DG .
