Bhubaneswar: People in Odisha will no longer have to visit police stations to lodge FIRs as a virtual police (e-police station) station was inaugurated by Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday.

In the first phase, people can lodge complaints from their respective districts regarding theft of their vehicles without visiting police stations. The virtual police station will function from State Crime Records Bureau in Bhubaneswar.

Police DG Abhay informed that through Sahayata App or Citizen’s portal, people can lodge FIR without visiting police stations. If a case remains undetected for 21 days, final form shall be auto-generated at CCTNS.

Apart from the virtual police station, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also launched road accident case documents module and medico legal opinion system projects of Odisha Police which aims to reduce human interface with government offices.

The road accident case documents module is a web-based application which can be accessed from the website www.imsop.odisha.gov.in. Through this web-based application, victims of road accidents as well as insurance companies can download documents like FIR, final form, spot map, MVI report, inquest, post mortem report, driving licence, and registration certificates.

The complainants of road accidents can download the necessary documents by filing up requisite data and one time password (OTP) will be sent to the users' mobile phone number mentioned in the FIR.

The insurance companies will have to approach crime records bureau for creation of user IDs and password to access the site. The insurance companies will have to pay a nominal charge for downloading and accessing the services while the complainants can download documents free of cost.
