Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has so far administered 40 lakh doses of COVID19 vaccine in a period of 70 days, informed the State health department on Saturday.
Those who have been inoculated against the virus include healthcare workers, frontline workers and 45 years and above citizens.
While the State achieved the target of the first 10 lakh doses of vaccination in 45 days, the second 10 lakh doses were administered in 11 days, the department said.
Further, the subsequent 10 lakh doses were administered in eight days while it took only 6 days to complete the fourth 10 lakh doses.
“Happy to share that Odisha has administered more than 40 lakh doses of #COVID19 vaccine sucessfully to our Healthcare Workers, Frontline Workers and 45 years & above citizens in a period of 70 days (16.01.2021 to 09.04.2021 excluding holidays),” the health department tweeted.
“Congratulations to our Health Work Force for their commitment to fight the COVID 19 pandemic,” the Health Department noted in another tweet.
Meanwhile, 2.50 lakh more Covishield vaccines reached Odisha on Saturday. The State will get more vaccines in a phased manner, informed the additional chief secretary of the health department, Pradipta Mohapatra.
The State will observe Tika (vaccine) Utsav tomorrow following the call given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, said health director Bijay Panigrahi.
