Konark: After Jagannath Temple in Puri and Lingaraj Temple in Bhubaneswar, the Odisha government has begun process for peripheral development of the Konark Sun Temple.
As per reports, Works Secretary of Odisha government Krishan Kumar and Puri district Collector Balwant Singh visited Konark Temple on Tuesday evening and reviewed the situation.
Both of them reportedly visited Interpretation Centre set up by the Indian Oil Foundation (IOF) in Konark. Later, they inspected the entrance of the Sun Temple, urban haat, ring road, parking spaces, medical chowk and police station chowk and apprised the archaeologists about it.
Besides, they held a discussion for the development of parking space at the Sun Temple, development of the eight acres of land behind the Kali Temple (situated near the Sun Temple), setting up of special vending zone for vendors who have encroached government lands in the area, construction of proper exit gates for tourists and footpath for pedestrians.
CEO of Indian Oil Corporation, Superintending archaeologist of ASI (Bhubaneswar Circle) and several officials of the district administration were also present during the discussion.
