Bhubaneswar: Odisha received a whopping assistance of over Rs 16,000 crore in the first 100 days of Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA Government's second term, informed Union Minister of State for Shipping, Chemicals and Fertiliser, Mansukh Mandaviya.
Addressing a presser at Bhubaneswar on Monday, Mandaviya said the Centre provided Rs 4,678 crore to Odisha for rebuilding infrastructure damaged by cyclone Fani. The State also received Rs 5,933.89 crore as assistance under Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority (CAMPA).
“We want Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik Ji to develop cyclone resilient infrastructure in coastal areas so that the State can better tackle such natural calamities,” said Mandaviya.
The Union Minister further stated that the Centre is keen on its commitment for a ‘New Bharat’ and steps are being taken for the development of States. Special focus is being given on development of infrastructure and development of Inland Waterways in 36 rivers and a detailed project report is being prepared, he added.
He further stated that said the ministry has decided to pick two lighthouses in Odisha to develop them as tourist spots in the state.
Mandaviya also highlighted that abrogation of Article 370, improvement in Parliamentary outcomes, repeal of Triple Talaq are some of the measures taken by the NDA government in the first 100 days of its second term.
Meanwhile, AICC General Secretary Ramchandra Khuntia, on the other hand, alleged that PM Modi has failed to keep his promises made to the people during his 100 days in office. He claimed that despite a global slowdown, India’s economic growth was not hampered during PM Manmohan Singh’s term. But now the GDP has slowed down to 5 % from 10 %.
