Odisha: Former Block Chairman Murder Case Cracked, Five Including Mastermind Arrested

Berhampur: Five persons were arrested in connection with the murder of former block chairman of Beguniapada, Debraj Sahoo.

On Monday, police seized three pistols, five magazines, 63 bullets, a car, deceased's mobile phone and some cash from their possession of the arrested persons.

The cops ruled out any political angle in the murder while attributing it to a revenge killing. Ajay Barik is the mastermind of the crime, police said.

"It is basically a revenge killing. So far, there is no clue of political angle. It is purely due to previous enmity over different reasons," said Southern Range DIG, Satyabrata Bhoi.

"After a scuffle with Debraj earlier, Ajay was looking for opportunity to take revenge and procured firearms to execute the crime," Bhoi added.

Notably, three bike-borne miscreants had opened fire at Debaraj Sahoo at Sumandal Chhak on January 20. Sahoo succumbed to the bullet injuries on the spot.
