Bhadrak: Amid incessant rain triggered by low pressure pounding several parts of Odisha, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel deployed in Bhadrak district turned godsend for two siblings trapped in a house submerged in the flood.

After a three-hour-long operation, the NDRF team rescued the two brothers who were trapped in their house at Solampur under Bhandaripokhari block.

According to sources, the home of the two siblings near Balavi Ghat was filled with neck-deep water after heavy downpours. Trapped in the house, the duo managed to contact Bhandaripokhari block development officer (BDO).

Informed, an NDRF immediately swung into action and launched a rescue operation. After nearly three hours of ordeal, the rescue team finally salvaged the duo from the jaws of death at around 1.30 am. Their health condition is stable now.

Notably, seven persons have been killed in rain and flood-related incidents in different parts of Odisha in the last three days, according to information provided by special relief commissioner (SRC) Pradeep Jena.

As per reports, four deaths have been reported from Mayurbhanj district, two from Keonjhar and one from Sundergarh district.

Major rivers such as Baitarani, Brahmani, Subarnarekha and Budhabalanga are in spate with their water flowing above the danger-mark, submerging low-lying areas and paddy fields in several districts.
