Bhubaneswar: Applicants will no longer have to visit the Directorate of Fire Services in Odisha to obtain fire safety certificates as the whole process will be carried out through online mode from next year.
According to a circular issued by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), the Odisha government has decided to bring the Fire Services department under the purview of 5T (transparency, teamwork, technology, time and transformation) from January 2020. And the whole process of obtaining fire safety certificates for all types of buildings and occupancies will be carried out online from April 1, 2020.
The new guidelines mentioned that the field level officials of the fire services department have now been vested with powers to issue requisite approvals and fire safety certificates for buildings and occupancies.
As per the new norms, applicants can avail fire safety certificates within 18 days of applying for the same. The certificates for all types of occupancies would remain valid for two years while the validity period for residential buildings will be five years.
