Malkangiri: At a time when Odisha government is claiming that it is now giving more focus on providing better healthcare services to people under its 5T model of governance, a doctor has been accused of thrashing a girl student instead of treating her in Malkangiri district.
According to reports, the class X student of Kalimela Upper Primary school was rushed to the Community Healthcare Centre (CHC) after her condition deteriorated during school hours yesterday.
It is alleged that the doctor on duty thrashed the girl student after the teachers insisted on providing treatment to the girl before referring her to Malkangiri district headquarters hospital.
“The doctor sent all the teachers and my friends outside. Later, he poured some medicines on my eyes and mouth and beat me. He also gagged my mouth,” alleged the victim student.
Though the concerned doctor could not be contacted for his comment on the allegations, Malkangiri CDMO said that no complaint has been filed in connection with the incident but the matter will be investigated after a formal complaint is lodged.
