Jharsuguda: At a time when Odisha has been reporting zero fatalities due to coronavirus since last few days and the schools for class X and XI have reopened across the State, the Covid-19 infection has witnessed resurgence with the return of containment zones.
Following the declaration of containment zones in Athagarh and Kantapada of Cuttack district earlier, Jharsuguda district administration on Sunday has gone back to declare Brundaban Colony area in Beheramal as a restricted zone following detection of five positive cases of Covid-19.
According to reports, while lane-1 to lane-2 has been declared as containment zone, from beauty parlour to PP motors till the end of lane-1 has been declared as buffer zone.
“In order to curb further spread of Covid-19 the district administration has taken the major. The step will also help in contract tracing and surveillance,” said Jharsuguda Magistrate Golak Bihari Mangaraj.
Following the declaration of the containment zone the district administration has restricted the movement of the public in the area by erecting temporary barricades. The area has been guarded by police personnel. Shops and business establishments have been shut down. However, emergency and essential services are allowed to function.
“According to the directives of the Collector, containment and buffer zone has been declared in the area. I thank the people of Jharsuguda to cooperate us fully. The administration is with them,” said Mangaraj.
Earlier on January 8, the district administration had declared Khanduali village under Athagarh block in Cuttack as a containment zone after detection of as many as 16 Covid-19 positives in the village.
Similarly on January 9, as many as 26 teachers and two students from various schools in Gajapati district had tested positive for the Covid-19.
