Bhubaneswar: Even as rising COVID-19 cases in few hotspot districts has emerged as a major concern, what could come as a solace for many is the fact Odisha is also on a steep recoveries curve. A record 609 patients recuperated from COVID-19 on Tuesday, taking the total recoveries to 9,864.
As per Health and Family Welfare Department, highest of 268 recoveries were reported from Ganjam, followed by 135 from Sundergarh, 37 Khurda, 32 Cuttack, 25 Balasore, 23 Keonjhar, 18 Mayurbhanj and 12 patients each from Bhadrak and Puri districts.
Earlier Odisha’s COVID-19 tally jumped to 14,280 after 543 new COVID19 cases were reported in the last 24 hours. Apart from the new cases, four more persons died of COVID-19 in the State, taking the death toll to 74 on Tuesday.
As per Health Ministry, India is witnessing considerable improvement as far as the COVID-19 recoveries are concerned. In May, the recovery rate in India was around 26%, which rose to 48% by May end. It further has increased to around 63% by July 12.
Odisha has a recovery rate of 67%, Uttar Pradesh 64%, Assam 65%, Gujarat 70%. Tamil Nadu has a recovery rate of 65%, informed Ministry of Health OSD, Rajesh Bhushan on Tuesday.
