Bhubaneswar: With a single-day spike of 2854 cases, Odisha’s COVID-19 tally went up to 249693 on Saturday. Of the fresh cases, 1659 patients are from quarantine, while 1195 are local contact cases, informed State I&PR department.
As many as 9 districts reported a daily surge of over 100 cases. For the first time in several weeks, Khordha district has recorded daily cases below 400-mark with 393 new positives. Next in the chart are Cuttack (244), Sundergarh (143), Angul (131) and Mayurbhanj (127) districts.
As per government data, the death toll has breached the 1000-mark with 15 more fatalities in the last 24 hours – 5 from Khordha district including two deaths in Bhubaneswar, 1 death from Balasore, 2 from Cuttack, while one each succumbed in Mayurbhanj, Sundergarh, Kendrapara, Jajpur, Balasore, Jagatsinghpur, Ganjam, Bolangir districts.
Odisha H&FW department has shared the details of 15 patients who succumbed while under treatment at hospitals.
- A 44-year-old male of Balasore district.
- A 36-year-old male of Bolangir district who was also suffering from Diabetes, Hypertension & obesity.
- A 62-year-old male of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Diabetes.
- A 66-year-old male of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Hypertension.
- A 78-year-old male of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Diabetes & Hypertension.
- A 35-year-old male of Cuttack district who was also suffering from Diabetes.
- A 70-year-old male of Cuttack district.
- A 61-year-old male of Ganjam district who was also suffering from Chronic Liver Disease.
- A 50 -year-old female of Jagatsinghpur district who was also suffering from Diabetes.
- A 40-year-old male of Jajpur district.
- A 60-year-old male of Kendrapada district.
- A 51-year-old male of Khordha district who was also suffering from Follicular Lymphoma.
- A 62-year-old male of Khordha district.
- A 37-year-old male of Mayurbhanj district.
- A 69-year-old male of Sundargarh district who was also suffering from Diabetes.
So far, 220388 patients have recuperated from the disease in Odisha, while the active case count stands at 28246.
Official reports reveal 45914 samples were tested on Friday for COVID-19 that include 9327 RT-PCR, 36502 samples via Antigen testing, and 85 samples via Truenat testing, taking the number of samples tested cumulatively across the state to 3710592.
