Odisha Cop Killed In Accident During Vehicle Check

Baripada: A sub-inspector of Town Police Station was killed after being hit by a speeding motorcycle during vehicle checking in front of Law College here late last night. The deceased cop has been identified as Dayanidhi Das.

As per reports, Das was trying to stop two persons riding a motorcycle at around 8 PM yesterday when, in a bid to escape from being caught, the biker rammed the motorcycle into Das leaving him critically injured.

Das was rushed to Raghunath Murmu Medical College and Hospital but he died there while undergoing treatment.
Meanwhile, police have detained the duo in connection with the incident.

It is pertinent to mention here that police have launched a massive campaign to create awareness among people about traffic rules and road safety following complaints regarding reckless driving, especially by youths at the particular stretch of road.
