Berhampur: Five-year-old Kanha appeared nervous today as he entered the hospital room to remove multiple stitches on his face.
The boy was operated upon on July 26 by a team of 12 doctors at MKCG Medical College and Hospital. According to sources, a five-hour recuperative surgery was conducted to remove the excess flesh along with hair on his body especially his face.
Meanwhile, with all the unwanted flesh from his face taken out and stitches removed, doctors said that Kanha's health condition is normal.
Kanha's parents informed that he is recovering well. “We do not understand much about medical science but we are thankful that he has got a new face,” said Kanha’s father.
Raju Das, Head of the Plastic Surgery Department at MKCG said “We have removed the extra flesh on the right side of his face through skin grafting. The second operation will be held three months later depending on the boy’s response to treatment and his health condition.”
Born to Mamata and Ramachandra Naik of Gayaganda village under Jagannath Prasad block in Ganjam, Kanha is suffering from the congenital skin disorder popularly known as “werewolf syndrome” since childhood. The plight of the boy came to light after OTV reported the matter.
