Nayagarh: Employees had a narrow escape after an unidentified miscreant hurled a petrol bomb at a filling station in Singapada area under the Khandapada police limits of the district on Friday morning.
According to reports, the miscreant had visited the filling station on Thursday night to buy petrol. However, he got into a heated exchange of words with one of the employees over some trivial issue. In an act of revenge, he came back in the wee hours on Friday and hurled the bomb at the pump. One fuel dispenser machine caught fire following the explosion. However, no one was injured, though panic gripped the area following the incident.
On being informed, a fire brigade team rushed to the spot and doused the flames. The Khandapada police also reached the spot and initiated a probe into the incident. A case regarding the incident has been registered at the Khandapada police station.
“In the CCTV footage which was retrieved from the filling station, the miscreant was seen hurling the bomb. Our employees along with the fire brigade personnel had to struggle to douse the fire by spraying extinguishers and sand,” said Debashis Paramguru, manager of the petrol pump.
Though the identity of the miscreant is still to be known, it is assumed he could be a local.
Earlier on October 28 last year, two persons had been injured after unidentified miscreants hurled seven bombs at a house in Mundasahi area of Khordha town.
