Bhubaneswar: Leader of Opposition in Odisha Assembly, Pradipta Naik today slammed the Odisha government over premature adjournment of the Budget session of the Assembly. The speaker had adjourned the Assembly yesterday citing precautionary measure in view of Coronavirus outbreak.
Targeting State government over the issue of depositing Srimandir funds in crisis-torn Yes Bank, Naik said, “In a bid to protect its own image, the State government adjourned the Odisha Assembly.”

Naik alleged that while all the other Covid-19 affected states in India are holding their Assembly sessions, Odisha, which is yet to see a single positive case, adjourned its Assembly ahead of schedule, creating panic among people.
“Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha and even Delhi Assembly are in session despite a Coronavirus death being reported in the national capital. So it seems to us that, the adjournment of Odisha Assembly was only made fearing backlash on Srimandir funds being illegally parked in Yes Bank,” alleged Naik.
The Chief Whip of Opposition party in Odisha Assembly, Mohan Majhi said, “Odisha government should clarify which officers got kickbacks from Yes Bank for depositing Srimandir funds.”

Similarly, the Deputy Leader of Opposition, Bishnu Sethi said, “BJD is creating unnecessary panic among people. In fact, Coronavirus has infected CM Naveen Patnaik and his party, not the people.”
However, refuting all the allegations by BJP, senior BJD leader, Amar Prasad Satpathy said, “It’s unfortunate that a responsible leader like Pradipta Naik is making such allegations. When other states have declared it as state emergency, Odisha has moved a step ahead and tried to contain the situation. We are a model state in disaster management and we set example by leading from the front.”
