Bhubaneswar: Even after Odisha witnessed seven low pressures since the onset of monsoon and five alone this month, the State, still reported three per cent rain deficit, said Met office.
According to weather office, Odisha reported 838.2 mm rainfall from 1 June to 25 August which is three percent less than the normal. Malkangiri reported the highest 1439.8 mm rain followed by Deogarh (1128.9 mm), Sambalpur (973.9 mm), Koraput (953.6) and Dhenkanal (949.1 mm).
On the other hand, Puri has registered the lowest 569.3 mm rainfall, while Khordha remained at the second spot with 581.5 mm rain. Cuttack registered 842.8 mm rain.
In the last 24 hours, Bhadrak reported the highest 29.9mm rain followed by Jajpur (21.6 mm) and Kendrapara (21 mm) whereas Malkangiri, Boudh and Nuapada reported zero rain.
Meanwhile, the Met office has issued red warning for 11 districts- Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Angul, and Deogarh. These districts are likely to experience extreme and heavy to very heavy rainfall in the next 24 hours.
Similarly, orange warning has been issued for Puri, Khurdha, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Boudh, Bolangir and Kandhamal. These districts are expected to witness heavy to very heavy rainfall.
