Bhubaneswar: A havildar and a constable arrested for their alleged involvement in duping bid of a businessman have been suspended from service by the State Home Department.
Another sub-inspector who is under the scanner in connection with the case has been shifted to the reserve from the special squad.
An additional DCP has been entrusted with the investigation, informed Bhubaneswar Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Umashankar Dash.
The fraudulent gang was arrested yesterday and close to Rs 1 crore cash was seized from their possession. It was alleged that the accused were trying to dupe a businessman by promising to return Rs 1.5 crore in lieu of Rs 1 crore.
“All the accused have been interrogated. Their involvement was ascertained following CCTV camera examination and cross verification. Eventually, they have been arrested,” the DCP said.
“The case is under investigation. As the constables were unauthorisedly present with the accused persons, there are chances of their involvement in the case. Therefore, we have kept them away from their regular duty. An additional DCP is also examining the case from all angles,” he added.
